Mr. Michael Ferullo of Springfield lives outside of Mr. Welch's district, and has been donating to Mr. Welch since 2006, despite the fact that Mr. Welch has never been on his ballot.

He has donated $525.00 to Mr. Welch, and $300.00 to an unopposed Mr. Petrolati; who also has never been on Mr. Ferullo's ballot. If this isn't an example of patronage, what is?

Note that until recently, no occupation has ever been noted for Mr. Ferullo. Much like revealed in the Boston Globe article, individuals had to donate before they received jobs. Is this the case here?
